I'm changing my rating after a second experience here that was positive. If I could split my ratings it would be one star for online, 4 stars for in person. The staff is busy but friendly (for the most part) and the auction runs like a well oiled machine. It's also a lot of fun.

The negatives are that the online auction system through proxybid just doesn't work well. I made a bid, then the car was passed on but the system still displayed my bid as the highest. I was reluctant to place any more bids because my money appeared to tied up in this one car. Also, the software that the auction runs with didn't work. I tried installing it on two different computers and it crashed on both repeatedly.

But in person, I had a blast. I went on a Saturday. There was no test driving allowed due to the Flea Market traffic, but they still let us check out the cars and start them up from 9am-10am before the auction started.
The majority of cars were in the $1000-$5000 range. I had done Bluebook research the night before on the cars I was curious about. Checking them out in person helped to adjust the amounts I was willing to bid, and I drove off a car that I'm happy with (if it lasts more than a year it's a win).

If you do your homework and are patient, you could come away with a deal at one of these auctions. You need to have realistic expectations though. You're probably not going to score a car for much less than it's worth, but you will do better than a dealership. (I paid $4000 for a car worth about $4700). There are reserve prices in place to ensure the seller doesn't take a complete bath.

One of the guys warned to check the car for oil before driving home. I am worried that they artificially keep the oil levels low so the cars doesn't leak or smoke. This was mentioned in an earlier review.
